Crushing prison will lock up targets and slowly damage their HP. Its used mainly to target the big baddies in parties. When you start getting mages you'll learn that this can be a life saver. If you want to lock targets up though paralyze and mass paralyze will do better jobs at it, but they don't near-kill their targets.

Very, very nasty, together with the Misdirection Hex, which is just ridiculous (especially since enemies know that my char is the DPS warrior, so they cast it on him all the time).

From what I've seen, it will not immobilize bosses (or any big enemies for that matter), but it seems to still do the damage. *imagines using crushing prison on archdemon* However, I like the spell. It pretty much destroyed every boss. And you could rub it in even more if you debuff them with entropy and assassins mark, because it does do physical damage. I got mind blast and crushing prison on every one of my mages, and you don't need to pick any crappy skills in the set to get to it, which is also a bonus.

It's pretty much the new Crushing Prison, since Crushing Prison was nerfed to uselessness. Similarly, we have to know about attributes, so we notice that (for example) +20% Def is junk while +25% Armor is good for Hawke (since you have really high armor anyway). I didn't like playing a mage though, because Carver can go suck an ogre.
